Testimonials
It provides a visual presentation of Christian biblical and theological concepts using an interesting chiastic structure that centers on Jesus Christ (13). All the major categories of theology are addressed in a very accessible manner using traditional Christian categories. It summarizes key ideas and places them within a historical and broadly Evangelical framework. In the last section of the book, there is a helpful section on Christian worldview that provides practical integration of theology and philosophy in today's world. I would recommend this book to both teachers and students who are looking for fresh ways to think well about the biblical text.

This book is one of three produced by Craig V. Mitchell and Eric A. Mitchell (no relation) for their ministry Star and Scepter Discipleship. It is intended as an aid for lay people in the Christian church. Many do not realize that a well done chart book or infographic book represents a high level of competence regarding the subject matter on the part of the authors. Anyone can ramble on about a particular topic and make some significant points along the way, but to summarize and condense the most important points in a simple and clear way as the Mitchells have done shows a mastery over the material that will surely aid laypeople of all ages to understand the Bible and theology.Â

Overall, the Mitchells have done a wonderful job of explaining some basic theology and the overall message of the Bible in an introductory manner. Their book is certainly a valuable tool for Pastors, disciplers, Sunday school teachers, and small group leaders for introductory courses. The format of infographics will appeal to postmodern visual people and the introductory nature of much of the material certainly will be helpful to future generations of church goers in an increasingly biblically illiterate culture.

Personal Story
How It Began
Twenty-one years ago, two newly minted professors were hired to teach at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas and we became fast friends. Craig Mitchell was hired as Ethics and Philosophy professor with a background in electrical engineering, systems engineering and a broad breadth of biblical studies, economic & public policy research at the doctoral level. Eric Mitchell was hired as professor of Old Testament & Biblical Backgrounds with a research areas of Archaeology, Hebrew narrative, and Historical Geography. We both were independently working on how the rhetorical narrative structure of the Bible presents Gods epic Bible story of salvation—Craig from a Bible, worldview, and systems perspective; and Eric from a Bible and history perspective. Both of us have a high view of Scripture’s inerrancy, sufficiency, and authority and we begin and end our study with Biblical theology. Over the years, our discussions fine-tuned our thinking about the Bible and how God presents His epic Bible story of Salvation with Christ as the center of that plan.
How It Continues
We have been teaching this overarching Bible plan to our students in schools and churches for the past eight years. Viewing the Bible’s message in this way helps our students to both remember God’s Word and to make sense of what it means as well as what God is doing. Our students have been very excited about the Big Picture now making sense. So we presented our material in a book(s) and began the Star & Scepter Discipleship ministry to help Christians better know Christ and their place in God’s plan. We have completed our first course: God’s Epic Plan for Salvation which takes our book materials and expands on explaining them. Our students come away excited about their deeper understanding of Gods Word and plan.
